The Last of Us Part 2’s Media Event Will Reportedly Give Media 3 Hours of Hands-on Gameplay

That's a big, big chunk of the game.

the last of us part 2

Last week, it came to light that later on in September, Naughty Dog would be hosting a media event for the upcoming The Last of Us Part 2. Now, newly emerging information might have given us a clearer picture of what that event will entail.

Over on Twitter, Daniel Ahmad – senior analyst at Niko Partners – is reporting that attending media will be given three hours of hands-on time with The Last of Us Part 2. The event is going to be for the media only, and a lot of what goes on over there will be embargoed, so the public won’t be seeing all of it. Regardless, we can expect some new gameplay footage to emerge as a result, while a round of previews and hands-on impressions also seems like a given.

The amount of hands-on time the media will be given with the game is particularly interesting. The first game was about a dozen hours long, but given the fact that Naughty Dog are ready to let the media play the sequel for about three hours already might suggest that it’s going to be a much bigger game, which would go in line with what we’ve heard about it previously.

What’s more, based on this, one might also be forgiven for thinking that the game’s pretty far along in development- which would also be consistent with Naughty Dog’s own statements not too long ago. Perhaps an early 2020 release is indeed going to happen?

In related news, other recent reports have suggested that Sony is holding one more event later this month, which, as per speculation, might be a State of Play broadcast focused on The Last of Us Part 2. The Naughty Dog action adventure title will also be showcased at Madrid Games Week next month.
