Just because Nintendo finally unveiled the Switch 2 doesn’t mean the rumour mill will stop spinning. A new rumour, courtesy of YouTuber eXtas1s, reaffirms previous reports that Microsoft is getting in on the action with ports for several of its titles.

Alongside Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, titles like Diablo 4, a Call of Duty game, and Starfield are also allegedly being ported. The YouTuber has also mentioned Bandai Namco-published titles Tekken 8 and Elden Ring as coming to the Switch 2.

As with any rumour, this is best taken with a pinch of salt. eXtas1s himself has largely proven to have a spotty track record with leaks, though he correctly reported on Elden Ring: Nightreign‘s annoucnement at The Game Awards 2024.

Nintendo unveiled the Switch 2 with a video last week, and while it hasn’t revealed more details like the console’s specs or any games coming to it, the video did give us a look at the upcoming hardware. The new console will feature, among other things, a larger kickstand than its predecessor and a new magnetic mechanism for how its JoyCons are connected.

The Switch 2 will also be larger than the original Switch, while also maintaining backwards compatibility for Switch games purchased both physically and digitally. The closest thing we’ve seen to a game announcement by Nintendo so far has been a tease for what appears to be a new Mario Kart game.

Rumours about other games coming to the Switch 2 have also been going around, including a port of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Ubisoft is also seemingly working on a host of Switch 2 ports for its titles, including heavy hitters like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

These power-hungry titles will likely make use of the Switch 2’s rumoured neural net processor, which will allow the console to make use of AI-based upscaling technology to output to a high resolution in the vein of Nvidia’s DLSS.

Meanwhile, analysts have been trying to predict other details about the Switch 2, including how successful its launch might be, and its potential price tag. Estimates come in at around $400, putting it right in line with other handheld gaming systems like the Steam Deck.

As for the console’s success, analysts predicted that while the Switch 2 will likely ship quite a few units in its first year, it might take some time to reach the same sales as the original Switch. This is thanks to the fact that, when it launched, the Switch was a unique product. Since then, numerous handheld gaming options have arrived on the market.

However, if it’s any indication of the potential success of the Switch 2, its announcement trailer has been seen close to 19 million times.
