During its Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the company has unveiled a new feature: GameShare. The feature, available on the Switch 2, essentially allows players to temporarily share their local multiplayer games with another nearby player that also has the console. Games can be shared with up to three other consoles at a time.

Interestingly, GameShare seems to work regardless of whether the recipient is playing on a Switch 2, Switch, or Switch Lite. Games that require each player to have their own screens can also be played through Game Share, with the demonstration video showcasing a group of four Switch consoles playing a card game, each with their own hand of cards.

GameShare can also be used to partake in online player, with a pair of local players being able to connect with other online players. GameShare will be made available to games that have already been released on the Nintendo Switch through software updates. In the video, some of the games that will get the feature include Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, Super Mario Odyssey, and Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain.

Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive games will also be getting GameShare support. However, the company does note that only select games will be eligible for GameShare.
