Capcom continues highlighting different weapon types in Monster Hunter Wilds, which launches next year. After showcasing the hard-hitting Great Sword, its latest trailer is about the Heavy Bowgun. Firing slower than its counterpart but packing more defense, it’s an ideal ranged option. Check it out below.

The Heavy Bowgun has a meter that charges over time and when you successfully hit monsters. It can then enter Ignition Mode to fire Special Ammo until the meter is empty. While auto-guard will automatically block incoming hits, there’s also manual blocking.

The new Focus Mode also allows for landing charged shots that explode after a short period for extra damage on monster wounds. There’s also a new ability, which unleashes a powerful explosive shot at close range. The Heavy Bowgun also uses a cinematic attack where you shove the barrel down a monster’s throat and fire.

Monster Hunter Wilds is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. A new trailer will be showcased at Gamescom while attendees go hands-on with the first playable demo.
