Media Molecule’s Dreams in Development For 6 Years, Rebooted Twice

Director Mark Heale says Sony has provided a lot of support during the process.

If we’ve said it once, we’ll say it again – Media Molecule’s Dreams has been a long time coming. Teased back in 2012, Dreams was properly announced at the PlayStation Meeting in 2013. Five years later, the development team and studio co-founder Mark Healey believe they’re hitting the “sweet spot” with the game. Check out his interview with GamerHubTV below.

Healey revealed that despite the title, Dreams has ironically been an “absolute nightmare” to work on. Development began around six years ago and it’s been “remade” twice. However, he also revealed that Sony has offered “a lot of rope” to allow the studio to realize its vision. In the interview, Healey also talks about how Dreams game-ifies the process of creativity, allowing players to realize the same passions (like music and sculpting) that the studio has.

Dreams is slated to release in 2018 for PlayStation 4. Despite not having a fixed release date, we’ll likely have more information on its progress during Sony’s E3 presser on June 11th.
