After a middling launch, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has received its first hotfix on PC. According to the development team, it addresses hang crashes that occurred while playing with ray tracing enabled. While it doesn’t address other crashes (which the team is aware of), “We intend to get these first fixes out as soon as possible.”

In the meantime, it continues to “closely monitor crashes.” “Our QA and development teams are actively investigating and working on additional patches to further improve stability and address bugs as soon as possible.”

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launched on January 30th for PC with little fanfare or marketing and immediately received a “Mixed” rating on Steam due to various issues. Thus far, players have reported iffy lighting in cutscenes, freezing, artifacting, and more. Some also report problems when enabling AMD FSR’s Frame Generation such as stutters and occasional crashes.

Despite all this, the open-world title reached 27,775 peak concurrent players on the storefront. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days, and check out our review for the PS5 version (which runs far better).

As for the future, Insomniac Games is working on Marvel’s Wolverine, with leaks indicating that Marvel’s Venom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, and even Marvel’s X-Men are in the works. For non-Marvel fans, a new Ratchet and Clank is also allegedly in development, though it’s targeting a launch in 2029.
