Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launched last week for Premium Edition owners, before releasing globally for all as this week kicked off, though the game doesn’t seem to be enjoying the sort of launch player engagement numbers one may have expected given the size of the IP it is based on and the widespread positive reception the game itself has enjoyed.

As per SteamDB, on Monday, the day of its global release, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle saw a peak of 12,138 concurrent players on Steam. That’s higher than most of MachineGames’ past titles peak concurrent numbers on the platform, with Wolfenstein: The New Colossus standing at 11,986 players and Wolfenstein: Youngblood at 6,582 players, but not higher than all, with 2017’s Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus ranking higher with a peak of 16,141 concurrent players on Steam.

There are obviously some factors at play that are worth keeping in mind. For starters, as mentioned, the game has been available in early access for Premium Edition owners for a few days now, which means many will have already been playing the game, while crucially, it’s also available via Game Pass and the Windows Store, which means not all of its PC player base will be playing through Steam.

In our review of the game, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle captures its source material’s vibe down to a T, delivering an authentic, swashbuckling Indiana Jones adventure that can stand toe-to-toe with the original trilogy, while strong level design, compelling exploration, smartly designed puzzles, and enjoyable stealth and combat also combine in a well-crafted gameplay experience that might just be MachineGames’ best outing to date.” Read the full review through here.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is available on Xbox Series X/S and PC, and launches for PS5 next Spring.
