CD Projekt RED has confirmed that its upcoming release of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 makes use of Nvidia’s DLSS technology. Speaking to Eurogamer, the studio said that DLSS is used to ensure that the game can achieve a stable frame rate alongside decent visuals.

According to CD Projekt RED, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be making use of a specific version of DLSS that was seemingly specially designed for the Nintendo Switch 2 by Nvidia. All modes of the console – handheld, docked, and performance and quality modes in each – will make use of DLSS.

“We’re using a version of DLSS available for Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, powered by Nvidia’s Tensor cores,” said the studio in a statement to Eurogamer. “The game utilises DLSS in all four modes: in handheld and docked, and the performance and quality variations of each.”

The studio has also confirmed how the performance and quality modes in Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will work. In docked mode, players can go for 30 FPS in quality mode with better visuals, or 40 FPS with performance mode for better frame rates. Both performance and quality modes will run at a resolution of 1080p.

Handheld mode, on the other hand, will make use of dynamic resolution scaling to maintain a steady frame rate of 30 FPS in quality mode, and 40 FPS in performance mode. While quality mode will try to keep things at 1080p, the performance mode will drop down to 720p when it needs to in order to maintain steady frame rates.

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 was unveiled during the console’s major Direct from earlier this month. A video of the game being played was captured last week, which not only gave us a look at the various options screens of the game, but also revealed the fact that the Switch 2 release might end up looking better than how the game looks on the Steam Deck.

The video revealed that players will have the ability to toggle quite a few different options in terms of visuals, including Chromatic Aberration, Depth of Field, and Motion Blur, among others. The game was also running with HDR10 enabled in Performance mode, with the game being playable at 40 FPS.

CD Projekt RED had also previously confirmed a host of features for the Switch 2 release of Cyberpunk 2077, including support for gyro controls, as well as the touch screen for actions like tapping, swiping, and pinching for quicker inventory management.

While the company will be bringing Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition to the Switch 2 as a launch title, it has refused to comment on whether we will also see The Witcher 3 come to Nintendo’s upcoming console. The studio has, however, said that it is “all in” on bringing Cyberpunk 2077 to the console for now.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. For more details, check out our review of the base game, as well as its Phantom Liberty DLC.
