Bandai Namco Reports 22.1 Percent Year-Over-Year Decrease in Operating Profits

Gaming in general saw a decrease in year-over-year profits for Bandai Namco. The company still praises titles like Elden Ring and Tekken 8, however.

In its latest earnings report, publisher Bandai Namco has revealed that FY23 saw the company’s highest sales and and income to date. Despite this, however, the company has also reported that the financial year saw a decrease in operating profit.

According to the earnings call, Bandai Namco saw an overall 22.1 percent decrease in operating profit year-over-year. This means that, while the company made more money overall, the profit margins were much thinner when compared to the previous financial year.

In general, the company made 1,050,210 million yen, which was a 6.1 percent increase over last year. Operating income, on the other hand, was 90,682 million yen, and ordinary income was 104,164 million yen. The final income reported by Bandai Namco for FY2023 was 101,493 million yen.

The leading money makers for Bandai Namco in the financial year were its Toy and Hobby, and Amusement sectors. The Digital Business sector, which includes its video game business, saw a decrease in profit. The report goes on to talk about the performance of several Bandai Namco games, including Elden Ring, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, and the recent Tekken 8. Mobile gaming has also been successful for Bandai Namco.
